Cale's Gas City 6th place finishing position sealed his title of USAC Midwest Thunder D2 Midget Rookie of the Year.
The D2 Midget series had it's series finale Friday night at Gas City I-69 Speedway. Entering the night Cale was 8 points ahead of fellow rookie competitor Cole Morgan. Cale started 8th in the final event and worked his way up to a 6th place finish. Coons ended up 10th in points and took the Rookie of the Year honors by 28 points despite only running a partial schedule.
